Klave Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-10
Klave (hereinafter "the App") values your privacy and has established the following privacy policy in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
1. Information Collected
Klave is designed to keep your notes on your device. The App may collect the following limited information:
- Crash diagnostics: Anonymous crash reports and stack traces (Firebase Crashlytics) to detect and fix bugs.
- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID): When ads are shown, the Google Mobile Ads SDK accesses your Android Advertising ID and ad-interaction events for ad delivery, frequency capping, and limiting fraudulent activity. You can reset or delete this ID at any time via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Dropbox account information: When you choose to connect a Dropbox vault, your Dropbox account ID and OAuth access token are stored on your device and used to read and write the files in the folder you authorize.
Your notes, vault contents, and app settings are stored only on your device (or your own Dropbox account, if connected). They are never transmitted to any server operated by Klave.
2. Purpose of Collection and Use
- Crash diagnostics: To detect crashes and improve app stability.
- Feature configuration: Klave fetches read-only feature flags from Firebase Remote Config to roll out experimental features safely. No personal data is sent.
- Dropbox integration: To read and write the markdown files in the Dropbox folder you explicitly authorize.
- Advertising: To display free-tier banner, native, and rewarded ads via Google AdMob, with consent collected and managed through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP).
3. Retention Period
- On-device data: All notes and settings are deleted when the App is uninstalled.
- Dropbox tokens: Stored on-device until you disconnect Dropbox or uninstall the App.
- Crash data: Subject to Google's Firebase data retention policy.
- Advertising data: Subject to Google's data retention policy. The Advertising ID can be reset or deleted by the user at any time.
4. Sharing with Third Parties
Klave does not sell or share your personal information. The following limited third-party services are used:
- Google (Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Remote Config): For crash diagnostics and feature flags. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Google (Google Mobile Ads / AdMob, User Messaging Platform): For ad delivery and consent management. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Dropbox: Only when you explicitly connect a Dropbox vault. Subject to Dropbox's privacy policy.
5. App Permissions
Klave uses the following permissions:
- Internet (INTERNET): To talk to Dropbox and Firebase services. [Required]
- Network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): To detect connectivity for sync. [Required]
- Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): Automatically included by the Google Mobile Ads SDK on Android 13+ for ad delivery and frequency capping. [Can be opted out via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads]
Klave does not request access to your microphone, camera, location, or contacts.
